Firehouse Antiques608 Main Street
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 10:00 a.m.
to 4:00 p.m. Closed Tuesdays Firehouse Antiques is located downstairs in New Harmony’s original 1900s Firehouse. It is a perfect setting for an antique shop with the original firehouse doors that are now front windows that look out onto Main Street along with its faux painted walls and brick floors. We, the owners, Jeff and Cindy Smotherman operate Firehouse Antiques on a full time basis so you deal directly with one of us when you buy. At Firehouse Antiques, you will find 19th Century American Furniture, painted primitive cupboards, store counters, harvest tables, old store showcases, advertising collectibles, primitives, country store items, quilts and Americana. We also have many vintage collectibles such as cast iron penny still banks, holiday collectibles including early 1900s postcards, Victorian glass, 1930-60s glassware, pottery, occupied Japan, miniature dolls, wade figurines and much more. If you are looking for a particular item, call and we will let you know what we have. We also keep a list of items our customers are looking for. We will be glad to put you on our list. See the photos on this page of some of the things we have in our shop right now. We moved to New Harmony from Murfreesboro Tennessee after being an dealer at the annual New Harmony Golden Raintree Antique Show June of 2003. At that time the firehouse was for sale, and within 6 weeks we bought the building and moved to New Harmony. We are very proud to say that restoration of our building has earned us the very first Jane B. Owen Award for Historic Preservation from Historic New Harmony. Another great honor was our home upstairs was featured on Home and Garden Television’s “HGTV” show ReZoned in May 2006. It is now in rerun mode and is episode 209, Indiana Firehouse, if you want to look it up on www.HGTV.com under shows A – Z, ReZoned. We invite you to come visit our shop and the other antique shops in town, stroll New Harmony’s lovely gardens, take a tour of the historic buildings/houses, eat, shop, dine and see a play. You will be rested and refreshed when you leave New Harmony or you might just decide to stay, as we did. Firehouse Antiques is open 6 days a week and by appointment. Please call ahead if traveling. We do go on buying trips.
